This Gothic cabinet is from France and dates to the late 1800's. The solid chestnut woodwork is very intricate with excellent hand carved details. The door opens and closes smoothly and there is a lock and key that works. Note that there is some woodworm damage to the piece on the backside (see photos). There are also cracks in the top panel and trim (see photos). Overall this cabinet is in very good antique condition with only minor nicks and scratches consistent with its age.
