This oil on canvas painting is from France and dates from the mid to late 1700's. It is by the renowned Italian Rococo artist Tommaso Gherardini (1715-1797). His other works include ceiling frescos in the church of Santa Felicita and the Palazzo Compagni in Florence. He also painted halls in the Gallery of the Uffizi and the Imperial Palace of Vienna. This painting of the Virgin Mary is in excellent condition. At some point in the last 50 years the painting was expertly restored. Unfortunately this painting did not come with a frame.
