This highly carved panel is from France and dates to the late 1800's. It is made from solid walnut finished to a warm medium color. The details are very well executed and the knight's helmet is very life-like. We do not know the original purpose of this panel but could see it being used as a king size headboard or even a bar back. Overall it is in very good condition with only minor chips and scratches consistent with its age. Note that there are some old woodworm holes throughout the panel (see photos).
