This Prie Dieu is from France and it dates to the late 1800's. The slanted book holding area is quite large and there is a compartment underneath. The cabinet is made from solid walnut except for the inside and back panel which are pine. The hand-done carvings at the top are very intricately done and only have minor imperfections. Note that there is severe wood worm damage throughout the piece (see photos). This book stand/cabinet is in very good antique condition with minor chips, scratches and discolorations consistent with its age. Dimensions: 59.5" tall, 26" wide and 20.25" deep. (620)
