This high quality woodcarving of Christ at the column of flagellation dates from the early to mid 1800's. It is made from wood that has been gessoed and hand painted. The carved detail in the figure is quite intricate and it has a life-like appearance. Note that there are several places where the paint has chipped (see photos). There also appears to be a missing halo for the sculpture. Despite these slight imperfections the statue is in good antique condition and ready for use.
