Antique French Fireplace Surround/ Mantle in Walnut with Bacchus or Devil
Special shipping note: Shipping may vary depending on your location. Please be sure to read full shipping information below.
This large (8 feet tall) and impressive fireplace surround/mantel is from France and it dates to the late 1800's. It is quite elegant with clean lines and beautiful carvings. It is completely made from solid walnut finished to a honey colored natural walnut. The garlands, ribbons and pillars are in the style of Louis XVI. The bust of Bacchus (or the devil if you like) makes an impressive centerpiece. Overall this surround is in very good antique condition, straight and solid with no significant damage, no woodworm and no dry rot. There are the usual very minor chips and scratches that are the result of over 100 years of use and there are some discolorations and a little paint around the edges where it was fastened into the structure in its original location. Dimensions: 98" high, 77" wide, and 37" deep overall. At mid-height of the body it is 87" wide and 32" deep. The fireplace opening is 47" high and 50" wide. (4707)
