This Prie Dieu is from France and it dates to the late 1800's. The slanted book holding area is quite large and there is a compartment underneath. There is a key and the lock to the door works as it should. The cabinet is made from solid walnut except for the inside and back panel which are pine. Note that there are some missing pieces of ornament in the spires and several wood worm holes throughout the piece (see photos). Overall this Prie Dieu is in very good antique condition with only minor imperfections characteristic of a piece of this age. Dimensions: 48.5" tall, 24.5" wide and 14.25" deep. (1315)
