This black lacquer and boulle tantalus with removable bottle and glass holder dates to the Napoleon III/Second Empire period of 1852-1870. The boulle inlay is in very good antique condition with only one strip missing from the top (see photos). The lock and the key work well and the sides open up smoothly. There are 6 stemmed glasses (there are spaces for 16), and 2 decanters (there are spaces for 4). Overall the tantalus is in very good antique condition with the usual amount of nicks and scratches and minor touch-ups. Dimensions when closed: 13" wide, 11" high and 10" deep.
