This Prie Dieu is from France and it dates to the late 1800's. This piece is made from fabric and solid walnut and finished to a warm dark color. The fabric appears to have been re-done sometime in the past 20 years. The carving in the center of the kneeler is exceptional and quite detailed. There appears to be repairs to the backside of the kneeler to make the piece stable (see photos). Note that there are several woodworm holes in the base of the piece as well as a couple of cracks (see photos). Overall this kneeler is in very good antique condition with only minor imperfections characteristic of a piece of this age. Dimensions: 36.25" tall, 19.75" wide and 21.5" deep. (1336)
