This headboard and footboard are from France and date to the early 1900's. They are made from solid oak finished to a warm dark color. The details are very well carved and the lions are quite expressive. There are holes in the wood where rails to the bed were once attached. One could easily purchase converter rails and use these mounting points to make this a standard sized Queen bed. Overall this headboard and footboard are in very good condition with only minor chips and scratches consistent with their age. Note that the headboard has some woodworm holes in it on the edge (see photos). Dimensions: The headboard is 64" tall, 65.25" wide and 3" deep. The footboard is 48.5" tall, 65.25" wide and 3" deep.
